"If necessary I would go out on the streets and beg rather than send them to the school next to where I live." [Oliver Letwin, quoted by Sarah Hall in Guardian Unlimited].
"Oliver Letwin has insulted the parents, teachers and pupils of every state school in the country." [Stephen Twigg, Labour junior education minister, quoted by Sarah Hall in Guardian Unlimited]
Fine, but what about the beggars? I humbly suggest that Oliver Letwin hasn't the faintest idea how unpleasant it is to keep yourself alive by begging (I am not claiming that I do, either).
The dire issue these days is that there are very few in the supposedly socialist government who have ever met any working people let alone done a days real work for their living. They are part of the utterly dispicable Thatcher crew who believe that greed is the only motivator. A pox on all their houses!
They (all of them) perpetuate the idea that 5p, even 5p in the pound means the same to someon earning £5 per hour to someone being paid £100k per week. Note I do not say earning because earning that is impossible.
GRRR! sorry. hit a raw one.
